Oral cancer is a serious disease that develops in the tissues of the mouth or throat. Early detection of oral cancer is important, as it can be lifesaving. Certain lifestyle factors can increase your risk of developing oral cancer, including tobacco or alcohol use, however anyone can be at risk for the disease. During the comprehensive exam portion of your visit, we provide all patients, especially those 40 years and up, with a thorough oral cancer screening. We use visual and manual screening methods to detect any abnormal tissues in your gums, cheek, and tongue.
